Community News: SST’s Inaugural Golf Day Swings into Success

The Stanger Siva Temple (SST) hosted its first-ever annual Golf Day fundraiser on 3 May 2025 at the scenic Darnall Country Club, marking a significant moment for both the temple and the broader community.

The tournament teed off under clear skies, drawing 44 enthusiastic golfers to the fairways. With its rolling terrain, tricky doglegs, and challenging pin placements, the course tested even the most seasoned players. However, Roy Sukhu and Babs Pillay, both representing the home club, rose to the occasion and clinched the top spot with a performance that was nothing short of par excellence.

While the competition was fierce, the atmosphere remained warm, welcoming, and full of camaraderie. The day was filled with laughter, sportsmanship, and the shared goal of supporting a worthy cause. It was more than just a game—it was a powerful reminder of how sport can unite a community.

Reflecting on the occasion, SST Chairman, Chan Reddy, shared:

“The Stanger Siva Temple celebrated its 75th anniversary last year and we paid homage to our forefathers who laid its foundation. We also salute the men and women thereafter who ensured that the establishment remains in the pristine condition it is in today. It is now our responsibility to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Temple and to create an environment that is welcoming for devotees.”

The fundraising event not only brought people together but also helped further the temple's mission to serve the spiritual and humanitarian needs of the community.

Chan Reddy, added:

“Our focus is ensuring that we create an inviting atmosphere for devotees’ enhanced spiritual experience. This extends to devotees of all walks of life and especially those that seek solace in times of need.
Forming partnerships and assisting Humanitarian Outreach programs is high on our agenda.
We will continue to serve the community of Stanger and its surrounds for many years to come.”
